Programmed PIC chips for ready-to-go projects

4 Channel Voltmeter - Programmed 16F819
Measues the voltage on four analogue input channels and displays on the LCD. The position of the decimal point in the display can be selected individually for each channelusing the rotary control to allow for input voltage dividers

Destination

VSWR and Power Indicator - Programmed 16F819
Measures forward and return DC voltages from an external SWR RF detector head and automatically calculates the VSWR. Power is calculated from the forward voltage and can be user calibrated via a third analogue channel with external calibration resistor

Using a VFD Display

Frequency Meter - Programmed 16F628
Capable of measuring up to at least 50MHz with a readout resolution of 1Hz. A user programmable IF offset can be stored, set using the rotary control which is added to or subtracted from the measured frequency.

Destination

Synthesizer Controller - Programmed 16F628
Controls two independent synthesiser chips of the TSA5505, SP5505, or U6239 type that use an I2C two-wire bus for programming such as those in the Comtech and G1MFG TV tuner modules. Tuning of both modules can be made independantly in 125kHz or 4MHz steps An IF offset can be included in either or both readings. Please note that contrary to the statement in the RadCom article, IF Offsets and tuning limits cannot be changed using the rotary control / pushbuttons. This was too complicated to implement at the time of writing. Instead, these values are stored as constants in the PIC and can only be changed with a PIC programmer
